Adam Glenn

As an journalist and online editor, I'm simultaneously a professional skeptic and an eternal optimist, a passionate teacher and voracious learner, an outgoing world traveller and an introspective homebody.

I fell into journalism almost by accident more than 25 years ago, when I realized it was the perfect avenue to pursue my insatiable fascination with the workings of people and the world.

Over the years, I've worked in almost every kind of newsroom and medium as a reporter, editor and news manager. I'm at heart a generalist, but I've picked up expertise over time in issues like environment, health, science, business, media and technology.

In 1997, I enthusiastically joined the online world, and despite its many ups and downs, haven't looked back since. I spent 7-plus years at ABCNEWS.com, wearing many hats including that of senior producer. Now, I'm working on web consulting projects with the likes of NBC Universal Chairman Bob Wright, Rodale, Columbia Journalism School and the Rubin Foundation, as well as exploring the potential of the online medium through developments like citizen journalism and wiki's.

I've always enjoyed sharing my knowledge, as well as constantly adding to it. I took a three-year sabbatical in the mid-90s to earn a mid-career masters in global affairs and travel around the world, and more recently have been selected for training at the University of Colorado-Boulder, the CDC in Atlanta, NIH in Washington, D.C., and the Vermont Law School. I've developed and organized numerous journalism workshops and programs over the last decade or so, and was awarded a fellowship in 2002 to teach journalism in India.

I live just north of New York City on the Hudson River with my wife, who is an educator, and daughter, who is a talkative preschooler.
